The Tobacco Ceremony is a process of drinking a tobacco liquid tea preparation in a natural setting under the guidance of a trained Tabaquera. This tradition originates from the Amazon Jungle where traditional healers and participants looking for personal healing have undergone the ceremony and dieta process to deeply learn from the plants as teachers and as doctors, allowing for cleansing and healing of the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Participants will refrain from outside stimulus, eat a minimal very clean diet of fruit and vegetables for breakfast and lunch, and be in a camping setting on a private 300 acre forested farm, allowing or maximum connection to the plants by cutting out the noise and energy of our daily lives.

Tobacco is a medicine of dreaming. The process in waking hours can be very grounding, purgative, clearing, and working much with the body and mind. The medicine will first work on the physical body to cleans through vomiting, using the bathroom, sweating, and temperature shifts in the body.  During sleep is where the dream space can open up to where the plants provide direct guidance, teachings, and healings.

 Timmie Larode, our guide and Tabaquera for this retreat, will have a personal intake with each interested guest. This ceremony is a one night stand alone ceremony, and is also an introduction to working with tobacco for longer periods of time on an 8 day Dieta. On this dieta path, a person will diet tobacco first, and then move onto working with tobacco and different tree medicine combined, which is also a process we will offer in the future and Timmie offers at other retreats around the world.

The ceremony will take place as a group in our 24ft ceremony yurt. Each participant will be served tobacco to drink one by one and sacred songs will be sung as we drink our tobacco. The second part of the ceremony is snorting the tobacco liquid, which helps with the clearing and purgative process. The ceremony will last around four hours as each participant is served and then we will go to our own tent camping spaces for the evening to be with ourselves in silence and to connect into our dream space in the evening.

We will offer breakfast on Saturday and Sunday Morning after each ceremony. A two day ceremony is offered to go deeper with the medicine and breakfast will be offered both days, as you will be primarily fasting during the day Friday and Saturday.

This retreat takes place at Rainbow Lake Farm, a rural retreat space in Iowa, nestled by a private lake and surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest and prairie. Participants will have access to dispersed tent camping, our group ceremony yurt space, outdoor showers and compost toilets, organic locally sourced meals, walking trails, and kayaks for the lake.
